Does anyone know how medical retirement would work at 20 years?

SFC (Join to see) For someone retiring after 20 it is pretty much the same as regular retirement after 20. It could help with your VA disability rating and the Combat Related Special Compensation (CRSC). It is a tax free entitlement that you will be paid each month along with any retired pay you may already be receiving. But you have to choose which one gives you more money. My CRSC is 70% but my VA rating is 100%. Below is the DFAS site that explains CRSC.

Normally since they know you can retire they down play your medical issues... "missing and arm and leg...no problem " he's re-tainable. My 60 yo friend is doing a PEB now @ 93% and 100% IU VA ...Army acts like he's 18 and in perfect health...gave him a 10%. Both sides pressured him just to retire. They tried and threw everything they could ... including the kitchen sink.
