Takes a special someone to do this career. Is a great mos to get into but not everyone is made for it so do a self assessment before taking on any MOS.

You're absolutely correct in what you said, 1SG. Thank you for taking the time to comment, I hope everyone will take those words to heart.

SFC Larsen, I'm a YG 2010 officer and I submitted my packet before the deadline last year. I wasn't selected to attend CAAS, but I'm not sure why. I got a 131 on the DLAB and my other qualifications were all satisfied. I continue to hear about there being an ongoing shortage of CA officers (my peer on the career course just came from a CA unit where he commanded as a very junior captain, but wasn't even a CA officer. He continues to tell me the shortage was, and still is, substantial). I called the SORB and asked them if there was any way for me to resubmit my packet, and they said no, they're strictly looking at YG 2011 officers.
My question is this: if the shortage of CA officers is really that bad, than why was my packet rejected without any reason why even though all requirements were satisfied and I did well on the DLAB? I want to be a CA officer, is there any way to resubmit my packet?

Sir, I'm quite interested in a response to your question. Hope there's an answer to this.

There is a pending plan to reduce AC CA dramatically and the RC slightly after the big build-up we have had since 2008. This means less billets, particularly for the AC. USAR is severely understrength in officers, so you should have no problem going to CAQC via that route if you leave AD. USAR does not have a "year group selection process and if you miss that window you are done" philosophy.

I’m a YG13 Officer and am also interested in going CA however; the QTR projections for branch transfer for AD CA is currently not taking anyone.
