Reserve Access Portal (RAP) is a VPN session using Citrix Client to let an Army Reserve member access the ARNet from a personal, CAC-enabled computer. I accidentally found out about it a few years back while browsing the MilitaryCAC website, and was surprised how I had never heard of it before. I haven't been able to find anything publicly advertised on Army Reserve sites, HRC, or AKO. Everyone I ask about it seems to have never heard of it. There are some dependencies to access the session: 1. must have CAC-enabled on computer, 2. must have an ARNet account, 3. seems to only work reliably on Internet Explorer 11 or earlier. Number 2 above is problematic because the hoops one has to jump through just to get an ARNet account, and you have to already be on an existing ARNet connection to submit a request through the ARAMP application. However, once that is done, I've found it to be pretty useful being geographically distant from my unit. All those .mil websites you couldn't access from home anymore (ATRRS, MEDPROS, etc) are now accessible. Also it helps to keep my ARNet account active when I log in from home, making sure that I don't have to call HelpDesk every BTA to have my account reactivated.

What is your experience if you have used it? If you haven't heard of it, how do you think this could help you better prepare for duty?
