I remember way back in the day you had to wear your dress greens whenever you traveled.

I don't miss having to travel in Class A's, but I do see a lot of nonsense from troops traveling in utilities. Hitting the bar, looking like they just took the uniform out of a duffel bag...
If you must travel in uniform, at least look the part.

1SG (Join to see) - Hope I am just wrong here but I feel a good deal of soldiers wearing their uniform on flights is in the hope of being bumped up in class. This is the same reason it would take extreme circumstances for me to wear my uniform when flying.

Either you didnt ask your chain of command, or you didnt like their answer. Go read the regs yourself, AR 670-1 chapter 4 covers OCPs. Chapter 3 para 6 covers traveling restrictions.

MAJ (Join to see) Sorry, that's now how that reg reads. Para C. has the all-important AND operator, not an OR operator. Personnel on official travel AND flying commercial. Emergency leave is not official travel. Para B. authorizes civvies, so is moot to the discussion.
I am not saying the answer is no, but I am saying it isn't authorized by what you posted.
And yes.... Ask the daggone CoC. That is (part of) what your team leader is there for.

MAJ Byron Oyler - Just saw a soldier at the post office in PTs in the middle of the day. Didn't say anything as there is no policy posted and I do not to get hit with an harassment charge.

I wouldn't fly in uniform, I would be in civvies. It is better to remain anonymous for your own protection and always stay alert to your surroundings. Too many jackasses these days.

one question: if your mom is going to be at the airport, how is this going to be a surprise? Does she not know you are in the military?

SPC (Join to see) - wear civies and then stop at a gas station and change in the restroom.
