I will take PCS leave before reporting to AIT but I do not have enough leave days from DEROS to report date. If I report early then I'll arrive at AIT 13 days before the class start date.

Hmmm.....I think this will depend on what your Orders say and what the Cadre at your AIT will say. If you have a POC, give them a ring and see what they say. They may let you report early and just have you helping with admin stuff until class start.

No you can't report early for AIT unless it's a PCS length school. Your DEROS will be adjusted based on the DA 31 you turn in to reassignment

MAJ Byron Oyler that's only IET soldiers. The Army frowns upon paying MOS qualified soldiers to sit around

Well...was you DA31 approved for the PCS leave? Did the DA31 account for the fact that you would go into the hole? If so, and the command approved it, you are authorized to take the entire leave time and go into the hole. However, if your orders say "Early Report Authorized," you may be able to report early. It does not mean an immediate class up, but you will be there. Cadre don't really have a say on your report date.

I have not submitted my DA 31 and haven't received orders yet. I have 7 months until I leave.

SGT (Join to see) - Pay close attention to your orders. Just like SFC (Join to see) said, unless you're PCSing to AIT an early report is not authorized. If you're reclassing, the majority of schools aren't long enough to PCS to, unless you're going for certain MOSs (e.g. 12M, 35M, etc.)

SGT Javier Silva he won't receive his orders for another 4 months, not until he's 90 days from the start of school.
