Has anyone tried it, more importantly has anyone found it useful? I'm trying not to judge too quickly but i haven't been impressed so far.

I haven’t toyed with the latest version, but when it first came out it appeared to be more gimmick and marketing than real-world information. One of our greatest struggles in the reserves is communication and the challenge of accessing the sorts of meaningful content and systems necessary to “stay green” on the trackers that matter. This means we need less PT score calculators and more RAG statuses that can be meaningfully actioned from a mobile environment. Let me download my clothing record, schedule a DA Photo, and request edits to my SRB through a platform that doesn’t require me to fumble around MilitaryCAC for hours to set up a card reader. If senior leaders can have .mil enabled iPads (as I have before), why can’t we make it easy for every Soldier to communicate on the move?

I've only been in the Reserves for a few months but it's vastly different than the Active and Guard. I am lucky to be an Army Civilian for my day job with a CAC computer.
I'm suprised how hard it is to get the information and support you're speaking of in the Reserves compared to the Guard or Active.

It’s very difficult. I am over 100 miles from the unit I RST with monthly and over 1300 miles from the unit I am attached to through APMC. I had to self register for a few required annual trainings. I could not access STRSS from any civilian computer even with a working CAC and reader. They’ve made it so you can only access it from a .mil network. This is horrible for guard and reserves folks as you either have to hope you can get on a laptop at drill to register or go to the recruiting office or the local NG office to register for the classes you need. I downloaded it the other day. I’ve yet to log into my email and verify the account yet though.

I never got the conformation email so I can't set up an account. I emailed the contact for help and still nothing. So I am just going to write it off.

I wouldn't bother with it. Unless leaders in your command are active on the app it doesn't provide any useful functions you can't get somewhere else.
