Does the FY19 MSG list follow the new MILPER message or does it have a mind of its own?

So, the new NCOES STEP program has everyone knowing they have to follow that system now. The way the MILPER message reads is there is a possibility you could get selected but not get pormoted because of the needs of the Army at that time. Example, 400 get selected for MSG and over the next 12-24 months only 350 positions open up. Does that mean the last 50 wont get promoted because of that? or you will get rolled over to the next list with a different number? This needs to buff out.

The only part of the new system your list is using, is your sequence number and how you view your number. Everything else is the old system. You are promotable and will be promoted. Itll probably take a year, but you'll get it.

STEP isn't new either, it's old. When I joined the Army you couldn't get promoted until you attended your NCOES. Then during the surge years that was temporarily changed. Now it's going back to the way its been for decades.

Not for this promotion board. Everyone who got selected on this MSG board will eventually get pinned. The only thing that changed for this board was the sequencing by merit rather than by DOR...
