Right now I'm 18 and in the process of applying for WOFT. I feel I'm a fairly strong candidate with the exception of having more age and college under my belt, however I'm definitely doing everything I can to offset these two factors it seems most others have. That said, if y'all have any tips for me and future applicants, want to share what your stats were when you were/weren't selected, or have any current aviators I could get in touch with, that would be amazing. Thank you for your consideration; I appreciate it.

What makes you a strong candidate? Everyone feels they are special or unique, I can assure you being unique doesn't necessarily make you useful.

Have you taken your SIFT? If not that is step one, study, you only get two shots at it. If you pass you are stuck with your score forever, no matter how good or bad it is.

If you are selected, stay humble. You will show up to a unit as a W1, and a very young one. Just because you are a pilot doesn't make you better than anyone. Never forget that, without your crew chiefs and back shops personnel your aircraft would never leave the ground.

I don't mean to be harsh, you asked for advice. This is the advice others won't give you. And my last piece of advice.
Don't worry about your or others stats. One person may get picked up with a lower sift score but better letters of recommendation, versus a better score and lesser LORs. Stats don't matter, a person's drive to be successful does.

Good luck with your packet and your desire to be an aviator.

Thank you for your response! I got in contact with my recruiter a few days ago to officially start the process and I'm getting ready to take the asvab in a week and a half. Here are some qualities that I'm hoping will put me above the edge
1.Eagle Scout
2.High School Wrestling Captain
3.High School GPA 3.8
4.Practice ASVAB : 91
5.Student Pilot (working on a PPL which should help with the SIFT and whatnot)
6.Created a Landscaping Business Which Managed 20 Properties and netted $10,000 in 7 Months (displays knowledge of project management and personable skills)

I also have previous employment and other "achievements" which may add some more credibility, but you're certainly right about how I shouldn't be focused on other's abilities. Right now I'm really just focusing on prepping for those tests and getting as much information as I can about this program along the way.

CW4 (Join to see) - Thanks! Here's a quick question, what's the best way for me to get in touch with some higher ranking warrant officers such as yourself? I figure asking for a LOR over forums is a bit shallow. Most people say pestering the state's national guard unit via phone is what worked for them. However if you had any suggestions that'd be great.

Where are you located at? I know Warrant Officers all over the Army. I can reach out to them if they are close to you and attempt to set up a interview. I can't guarantee you a letter but I can get your foot in the door

I am not a pilot but served a the QM for 11th Aviation Group in 75-78. The army is 750 pilots short and the older ones are retiring at 20. Some stay longer if they make CW5.
