I heard something about the army helping learn languages but I've asked around my company and no one's heard shit about it so I was wondering if any of you know.

35M and 35P are language dependent MOS's and require you to maintain a 2/2 language score.
CMF18, 37F and 38B are language enhanced MOS's and you'll be taught a language and have to maintain a 1/1. You can go to DLI to learn another language but you'll have to maintain a 2/2 in the future.

I admire your institutional knowledge. One of your values is you provide connective tissue with many topics. As you already know, finding answers can be an arduous process. How long have you served?

MAJ Ken Landgren Thank you, I'm just about to hit 20 years, 10 as a Career Counselor, which is where I picked up most of what I've learned. I just remember how completely lost for answers I was even up until I was a SSG, and how much bad "knowledge" was passed down to me back then as well. Some of it resulted in missed opportunities, delayed promotion, and unnecessary hardship for my family. I just want to do my best to prevent that from happening to others

SFC (Join to see) - How much longer do you want to serve? I think you will agree sometimes it is difficult to find who has the answer. That is often the most difficult endeavor.
I think I was a well balanced soldier. I was in aviation, armor, logistics, finance/budget, DTS, National Disaster Planning, and a 2 year tour with a large Alabama NG unit. All those gigs often gave me the ability to see the big picture. For example I worked with NORTHCOM to tap into their National Disaster Planning budget. I put the fund site in DTS and brought like 20 NG soldiers on active duty orders. Then I looked at how the NG unit would continue to support National Disaster Planning.
I am glad that I have PTSD because I understand much of it, and it gives me a framework to try to help people with PTSD. That I think it is my greatest accomplishment. I will say with humility if I heal 20 people 140 degrees. I have given back to the world more than I took.

Yes, but only if your MOS requires and the position you hold requires it. Meaning, an MOS may be sent to DLI to learn a foreign language based on the MTOE for unit. For example: 35M (HUMINT Collector) may be sent to DLI to learn Arabic because his position will require Arabic as a HUMINT Collector. That same 35M may not be sent to any school to learn a new language.
