So for the AECP do you need an associates before you even start? Also i read somewhere that there is no break in service what exactly does that mean like you'll just be going to school while still being in the unit you're currently assigned to?

You don't need an associate's degree, you just need the required classes in semester hours, and to be accepted to the nursing program. You will attend in active duty status and be assigned to a military treatment facility near your school. That's why the school you choose must be within a certain range of a military treatment facility.
You need to review 2019 aecp announcements, it has all this information in there.

SGT (Join to see) it's usually announced on the USAREC website, along with the IPAP announcement as well. If you can't find it, contact me tomorrow, I have it on my desktop at work.

It’s been about 2 years since I completed the packet for AECP but I will share what I remember.

1) No you don’t have to have an AA to apply to the program. You have to be able to complete your nursing degree in 24 calendar months (with a few exceptions).

2) AECP is essential Green-to-Gold but specifically for nursing. You draw E-5 pay (or whatever you enlisted grade was of higher) during your schooling.

3) You will not be kept in your current unit if picked up for AECP. Part of the requirement is that the school you apply to has an ROTC department(they may be able to have an agreement with one but the MILPER will tell you that).

Here’s what you need to do. Google and downloaded the AECP FY20 packet. This packet will outline every single requirement for submitting the packet and getting accepted to the program. You also need to get in contact with an AMEDD recruiter in your area. This recruiter actually submits the packet for you and helps you with other things like finger prints, etc.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

YESSSS!!! ok thank you so much I will definitely start making moves then. I have the AECP FY20 packet already downloaded but I was confused on some things when I read through it. Also... is there a submission date or can you turn in a packet whenever?

SGT (Join to see) You can submit the packet before the deadline. That date is just the cutoff.
