Does anyone remember what happened 70 years ago today?

Seventy years and 4 weeks ago, my dad's oldest brother went MIA while flying a recon mission in his P51 on the border of France and Belgium. Fifty six years later his body was found, still strapped in the cockpit of his fighter. He has since been laid to rest with full military honors. He was highly decorated, the DFC, 5 Bronze Stars w/V, Air Medals, and the Purple Heart. Most important, he was a good man, good soldier, and good brother. I regret never having had the pleasure of meeting him.
