I have read a lot about other prior service guys experience in BCT at Ft. Benning receiving sperate housing from the privates and getting a few privileges. However those stories are all coming from E5s. Does anybody have experience with a prior service E4 going through BCT?

Coming from the Navy or Air Force you will be treated like a new recruit. Because your MOS is an OSUT MOS, your AIT will be one long basic training.

You won’t receive different privileges while in BCT. Once you go to your AIT, you’ll be considered MOS T and will be housed separately from new Soldiers.

SPC (Join to see) - This doesn't apply, as Infantry does OSUT not BCT/AIT. Chances are, being an E4, you're going to be in the bay without any special privileges.

Going in as 11X you’ll be in OSUT. I don’t know how different they’ll treat you during OSUT. For AIT we were treated different, especially prior service. SGTs and abover were housed separately from the rest of the soldiers. But, E4s and below, regardless if you’re prior service or not, were in the same barracks. This was at Fort Leonard Wood. I wouldn’t know how they do it at Fort Benning. I would ask anyone who went through OSUT as AIT is different. Good luck. What was your rate while in the Navy?

SGT (Join to see) I was Navy Reserve and tried going active for 2 years. But the Navy didn't have any available billets for my rate and wanted to bust me down a rank for cross rating. Plus, I like to shoot rifles, and I never got the oporrunity to do that in the Navy, even during my time in a CB unit.

I had the same thing happen to me when I tried going back into the Navy. I refused to wait so I decided to the Army. Good luck in the infantry. Did you sign your contract already?SPC (Join to see)

PFC Jeffrey Herrington I'm in a seperated company than the new privates because I'm prior service.
