Anyone here have experience with the Texas State Guard? I recently moved and am looking for some volunteer experiences, plus I miss the camaraderie of the military, and I hear they have educational benefits. It seems like a good fit for me. I contacted a recruiter through their website multiple times and have not heard back. Is this normal? I am seriously interested in joining but if I can't get an email back from a recruiter that is not a good sign. Just curious if this is normal and also to hear about anyone else's experiences. Thanks!

I was in the state guard for a long time then had to move for a new job. It was great had a ton of fun and they in my opinion are the only state guard that do anything. I plan on going back in if I can get home to Texas and the job with the state.

If you're able, send me a private message on here. I have personal experience with the TXSG (to an extent) and don't want to put the entire organization on blast for what I witnessed at the two drills I attended after joining.
