Anyone go through the training and be a Green Beret with a wife and kids? What is it like and could you give specifics on the time away during training etc.? Thanks in advance!

You're not going to get specifics with an unverified account on an open forum. You will have field time, but you will also have a lot of time at home. It's very realistic to complete the course with a wife and kids, many people do.

1, You will have to take the SFAS and be selected- you will not have much time with your family. if any during that. Then you go to the Q course, same thing, then whatever secondary MOS they want you to have, same thing. If you pass all that, then world wide deployments sometimes 0 to damn little notice- its can be Hell on a family. That is why SOCOM has so many divorcees in it.

Like Marc said it’s realistic I did it but if your family doesn’t support your goals it’s not for you. Ensure all your affairs are in order (financially, family, etc) you’re trying to go to a place where no one will hold your hand so it’s on you to show you are fully capable of these things.
