So my time as a Fire Support Officer likely ends this week after spending 19months in the job. This week I will be RIPing with the new guy and wanted to make sure I give him the best opportunity to succeed. Any recommendations on what I need to cover as this is his first Army job?

1LT (Join to see) you are lucky to be given the chance to even RIP. I would develop a continuity book so if he has any questions later on he can reference it. I would say focus at first on where everything is located at on post and in the office then on battle rhythm and responsibilities.

For any RIP provide a battle rhythm, list of contacts and distro lists and scope of duties (CONOP or SOP).
After that comes battle drills but then again, how many people still do that?

Just give him a Map, Protractor and the latest CONOPs. He'll figure the rest out.
