Are we so professional that we do not have time for helping others? Not too long ago a senior citizen was trying in vain to reach a product on a grocery shelf. I reached up and handed it to her. There are two things that matter here and it is that the veteran/SM has a strong character and makes the community feel we are part of that community and a positive force.

SSgt I'm still young and dumb and I go full hooah everyday so I try my best to live in the mindset that you're still a SM even when you take the uniform off. Being a soldier to me is a 24 hour job and it gives me pride knowing that I can help strengthen the public perception of the military by defying the stereotype of my demographic and helping others in need.

Never too "professional" for helping someone out. I will never ever turn my back on another if I can help it. I am the guy that is running late but still holds the door open for the person behind me. I don't care about how I am perceived as long as I know that I am helping someone out and striving to be a good person.
