Were you brought up with the four food groups, the food pyramid, the plate?

Have you seen the documentaries Supersize Me, Food Inc., Food Matters? Do you think the government stresses eating whole grains to keep American agriculture alive and well, don't we feed that to cattle to make them fat?

We talk a lot about height and weight standards in the military but do we do a good job of training our service members to eat right? Do we know what eating right is?

How do you eat to maintain mental and physical fitness?

I found that The Zone plan works pretty good for me. Seems complicated at first but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a Crossfit Kool-Aid drinker however, I do like to cross functional fitness.

Diet and nutrition may be subjects where the facts behind what your learning or being told have something to do with who is doing the 'telling' and what agenda they have behind them. The end idea should be just plain old common sense, too much of anything is never good, moderation is always a positive, and each person needs to know their own limits.

Good article and information. Thanks for the heads up.

Sir I definitely agree that proportionality is of utmost importance. Just find it strange that we have to pay more for "organic" "range fed" food. When I was growing up it was just called food and yes milk was delivered to the house in glass containers haha!

I do remember that. My poor mother had to have a second box installed for the milk man just to hold our families twice a week deliveries. I think, sadly your right, food isn't just food anymore .....
