I was asked by one of my soldiers today that’s coming up on his re enlistment window, I did some research and couldn’t really find anything on if it is possible to ask for airborne school and still get choice of duty station? Ex : Fort Campbell, Fort Bliss, Ect. I had a old squad leader that ended up in Germany after jump school but that was out of OSUT. Does anyone on here know anything about this? Currently on leave but I’ll be taking him up to retention after we get back. Thank you everyone in advance.

Your soldier will only need an Airborne physical. They can only reenlist for training. They will be assigned to the needs of the army. Your soldier will be given they're following assignment 90 days prior to the start of training. If there is a specific follow-on assignment they want, they can update the ask and the training follow on branch will accommodate the request if possible

SFC (Join to see) I’m not taking anything personal it seems you’re the only one taking things personally around here! Just stating what I’ve seen Soldiers get in my last 3 years at Group! Not to mention my own 5 reenlistments of my career!

SFC (Join to see) heck I was giving out more than two options as a Recruiter even, how can you give them less options and expect them to stay? Lol

SFC(P) (Join to see) I'm sure you're correct. I'm certain that the more likely outcome is that you're simply misinformed. But seeing as you're not a subject matter expert, and you are a senior NCO, it would be helpful if you didn't spread misinformation to these junior Soldiers. Or at the very least, ask your career counselor for clarification prior to answering retention questions. Or failing that, read the policy prior to making comments.

Yikes. Seems as though someone is doing something wrong. Contracting more than one reenlistment option is unauthorized and most definitely is not on a DD4 or DA 3286. This is how bad information is spread.

If you re-enlist for Bragg, you’ll get Airborne en-route, same for Italy. Re-enlist for an ABN unit, and ABN is guaranteed.

Also, if you didn’t hear the news already, Branch will give you Ranger enroute to your next duty station. If you graduate, you’ll max points for E-5. So, what are you waiting for Ranger?
