Sergeant Major,
This sounds like an excellent opportunity. I haven't reached four years of service yet, but I sent you an email to get more information. Thanks for posting this.

Replied to your email SPC. You would have to be transitioned to the USAR (reserves) in TPU status IOT be accepted into the BN and sent to DSS.

I drill in Lumberton with Guard. If I was still enlisted I would take you up on the offer. Best of luck. If I find anyone in my unit I will send them your way.

CSM,
I Have a ETS of 23 Aug 2016 and will be starting my ACAP process soon but I just read this post and it caught my attention. I was planning to go into the reserves and always wanted to do drill sergeant but was unaware that it was possible. I would llike to know the nessassary steps to take now so that when I ETS i can make a smooth transition. How is the trail after school since its reserve?

AT is usually in the summer months during the surge. You will have to have at least 2 years left on your enlistment. I highly recommend it. Puts you ahead of your peers for promotion. It's the best job in the Army

I couldn't agree more! The trail is what you make of it, but it has ALWAYS been a BLAST for me, but I like to jump right in and tell the active DS to use and abuse me because I am only there for 17 days. Long days but my motivation keeps me going (and Energy drinks haha)
