What is the difference between the Delayed Entry Program and the Deferred Entry Program?

I was originally interested in the split option program for the reserves, however, i was too late completing my application requirements and i didn't get a seat to basic. One of my recruiters told me i didn't have a seat, and, im not 100% sure, but i believe he told me i could do the delayed option program. He told me i could go to MEPS, get sworn in, and i would go to basic amd AIT after my senior year. He also said i would get paid. Joining the military, for myself atleast, isn't really about getting paid. Its more about developing myself as a person and a leader, however, getting paid this summer will really help me improve myself (improving my diet, gaining muscle mass, etc.). After doing some research i came to the conclusion that you don't get paid though Delayed Entry, and that the reserves don't actually have their own delayed entry program; but they do have Deferred Entry, in which you get sworn in and paid as you normally would. So my question is, will i get paid through Deferred Entry? Is this program still active and functioning? It seems odd to me that i would be getting paid before training, but i don't feel like my recruiter would intentionally lie to me. Thank you all in advance!
