Is it possible for a Military Intelligence Officer in the National Guard volunteer for a deployment attached to USASOC or USSOCOM. If not, can a MI officer drill with a SF support battalion?

Of course. I did it, and I also personally know several others that have. In addition to there being SOF units with MI officers already in them, anyone in the National Guard or Reserves can volunteer for a deployment via Tour of Duty (now only available on NIPR), and/or via normal Request-For-Forces (RFF) information that may be put out through their unit/other channels. In terms of "drilling" with a unit, I assume you mean if they aren't already assigned (because if they were, of course they would be drilling with them). Drilling with another unit is entirely up to your chain of command. If they allow you to drill elsewhere in lieu of coming to drill with them, sure. However, there would have to be valid reason typically.

Air Force Intel can, even to support other branches in some cases. I know branches are different, but if they sent me ISO USMC, I would imagine you can do this, but the opportunities to support SF are usually rare and likely done through selective application process. Have you switch yet from 11B?

SSG (Join to see) I would think it would fall under special circumstances if that individual had a particular skill set needed for that deployment. But it’s usually best not to ask when it comes to intel. No one ever really knows why until shit hits the fan. But I could be wrong.
Can I ask why your inquiring?

I start OCS next fiscal year. I ask because I’m highly interested in serving in that environment in the intelligence aspect. It would benefit my civilian career tremendously.

SSG (Join to see) Ok. Do you have any specific intel background? Or is it just an interest to get into? It’s been a while for me so not sure if much has changed. I would see about possibly changing your MOS maybe to Intel? But they usually don’t like it when you request an MOS change unless the one your in is over overstaffed, and the one you want to go into is in high demand.
What career field were you looking to go into as a civilian??
