How does Command Sponsorship work for Soldiers in AIT getting assigned overseas? How will the soldier be able to meet the requirements to put their kids on the PCS Orders? I'm sure said individual will need a power of attorney. Anyone seen, or been through this?
Thanks.

So she’ll be reporting in November, family is located in Mississippi. It’s my wife, I tried to do the paperwork myself, but my orders to Germany end up being cut as an “All others Tour.” So I cannot do a whole lot as far as Command Sponsorship

You can elect to accept a command sponsor tour, however there is paperwork and a physical that your dependent has to complete. Reassignments should be able to assist you with the correct documentation once you elect a command sponsored tour. SFC (Join to see)

Usually for overseas assignments (OCONUS - Outside the Continental United States) for Soldiers in Grades O-3 and below are done unaccompanied. Then, once the Soldier reports to the Replacement Battalion/station (or whatever it's called now) they are given their permanent assignment & PCS Orders. The Soldier's family can then join them once the Soldier gains command sponsorship for their family members. At least that's how it was done when I was assigned to Germany in the 1990s in my prior service.

Yes sir, it’s similar for us as well. But I made the mistake of doing an all others tour. Didn’t know any better at the time, so I had to come here unaccompanied. I’ll have to extend in order for my Command Sponsorship to work.

Yes, the sponsorship form, so you can get a sponsor from the unit. She hasn’t officially received orders yet. She just got to Gordon. So, we’re to put in the paperwork and all that good stuff for MACP.

5434 sections 1,2,4,5. You sponsor is responsible for section 3. Most units it is required to do this before they cut you loose for PCS.
