Does anyone know how to get an exception to policy for the 10 days of TLE when I PCS?

Ok, so long story short. I am having trouble finding a place to live at my next location. It may take longer than the 10 days given for TLE. I am being told from some of the guys that I work with now, that there is a way to get an ETP, but none knows how. I'm AGR, and there is not a base anywhere close to where i am looking. Thanks in advance for any help.

The JTR is a regulation, not a policy. There is no such thing as an exception to regulation.

FYI, any time you PCS you are authorized one month advance pay, taken out of your check over the next 12 months. It is a no interest loan from you to you.
Whether you need it for moving expenses, paying down debt or not at all, you should always take it, because hey, no interest.

I suggest contacting the Housing office that supports your duty location. I understand that you may not be near an active-duty post, but the nearest housing office should support the entire region if you are in a remote location. The way TLE normally works is everyone is initially provided 20 days for house-hunting. Housing will provide two separate TLE approval memos each for a 10-day period to cover your reimbursement from Finance for those 20 days. If you are unable to secure housing within the 20 days, housing requires you to provide proof that you are actually searching for housing in order to approve additional time for house-hunting. That proof is in the form a packet they will provide to show all locations you have visited. The maximum number of days they will approve is 60 days.

Sir, I think you are thinking of TLA for when you are OCONUS. TLE is only 10 days between both duty stations when CONUS to CONUS. 10 days from OCONUS to CONUS (on the CONUS side) and 5 days CONUS to OCONUS (on the CONUS side).
SSG Hassell, maybe check with finance about an exception to policy but I don't think it is possible. You are still given BAH so maybe find a cheap hotel or airbnb after the 10 days is up until you can find something permanent.

Thank you, however, that tells me the policy, I am looking for who to talk to about an exception to the policy.

SSG(P) (Join to see) - Understood. However, if you have read the policy, it specifically states that it is not authorized for house hunting, which is what you're trying to do. The Joint Travel Regulation does not authorize any exceptions to the policy except those specifically stated in the Joint Travel Regulation, and any person who has received it may be liable to have to repay the government for the over payment.
