I have some NCO's that feel they are held back in their career because they completed ALC residents course almost a year ago, and are just now being enrolled in ALC common core. Has anyone else witnessed this or have experienced this? Any possible solutions?

I'm set to attend ALC next month; what my Operations NCO is telling me....more than likely I won't get enrolled in CC probably well into 2015/16. I don't understand why I would have to wait that long to be awarded completion of this school.

A battle of mines and I already felt the short end of the stick back in October when we drove down to TX from VA for ALC getting there the day before we were to report only to read a sign saying our class was canceled due to the shutdown. If this keeps up, there's no telling how much worse things are going to get.
From my experience many of my Peers have been enrolled in CC while they were at the Physical Portion of ALC, so don't give up hope just yet. I was enrolled in it when I PCS'd to my current location along with the physical ALC class. There may also be a priority placed on SSGs going first too.

SGT Cunningham, check out the HRC Military Schools Branch on Facebook. You can ask them questions and they are quick about giving responses. It's a great page for clarification or guidance in that area. I would ask them what's up with ALC-CC.

I called ALC branch at USASMA a few months ago in regards to couple of my SGT's getting ALC-CC, they said there is some back log and it goes by SFC's, SSG's, SGT(P), then SGT's.. They have an OML set up for this specifically. My SGT had a DOR of 2007 and was enrolled this past OCT.

I personally think the new promotion system is crappy. So many NCO's are held up from lack of deployments (which count for points) and waiting for ALC-CC to make the extra points.. I went out to Recruiting as a SGT with one 12 month deployment, so I would struggle to get promoted from lack of deployment points and ALC-CC... I feel for you guys! Its hard to fast track!

The system isn't perfect I can tell you that right away. I am going through my second, and final, phase of SLC right now. It took me 5 years to get this course. I did my first phase in 2009 as an E-6. But then again my second phase is only offered 2 times a year with 6 seats for each class, for the entire army national guard and army reserve combined. I recommend getting reservation now (pay attention to the time in service remaining requirements also) regardless of how far out you have to project then start looking for a shortfall afterwards.

I am having an issue getting enrolled into ALC Common Core, which is delaying my ALC date.... which will result in a delay in promotion.
