I recently heard that the Chief of Chaplain's Office was reviewing the roles of Chaplain Assistants in the Strong Bonds Marriage Enrichment, Single Soldiers, and Family Wellness programs.

If they have been properly thought the course material and they have instructed a few times with the Chaplains supervision. They should be good to go!

My rule of thumb is If I am working the event with my Chaplain, and my role is the lead Chaplain Assistant, I do not instruct. However, if I am in a situation where one of my Battalions doesn't have a Chaplain, and my boss and I go and help the BN Chaplain Assistant with the retreat, the BN CA will be the lead CA and I will instruct. Or if another UMT wants to team teach with us, and will again allow the BN CA to be the lead and I will instruct.

Hey Mike! I'm doing great! I sent you a Facebook request. Probably be easier to chat back and forth there.

I think they have been able to perform above and beyond for years in this capacity so it shouldn't change, I do think that the look into the changes is coming from the issues of having to deal with the DADT revocation and the current status of same-sex marriages participating in the programs and retreats.
That is just my two cents, doesn't mean it is accurate, just my thoughts.
