I've been a night shifter since January 2006 so I understand what your schedule is like. If you can take Monday off by using a day of vacation, do it. If you can't, then you'll have to suck it up and show up for your regular shift. There are times when I have training during the day and if I forget to the next off then I am still required to show up for my shift. Some times I may only get about four hours of sleep before I need to get up and get ready for work again.

You don’t need to burn vacation time. Again, I am almost 100% that federal law allows 8 hours after drill weekend for downtime. Reach out to ESGR, usually a rep comes into our unit once a year.

If my memory serves me correctly, you get 8 hours of downtime after a drill weekend. ( do you wouldn’t work Sunday night) Best to reach out to your ESGR rep. They can explain your rights and help you communicate with your employer.
