Yes but it basically depends on what your ratings are for and if you can pass medical. Your first stop is a recruiter and then go from there. I came back in the Army 2007 with a 60% VA rating, so it is possible. Good luck to you...

I did the same in 2009 with a 60% as well. I did need 2 waivers and it took me 2 years to get them.

Yes, you can. It may take some time depending on what it is. You will need your actual evaluation that breaks down how you are receiveing the rate that you are. In some cases, you may even have to reduce the percentage. Like everyone else is saying though, you do want to talk to a recruiter first to see if you’re eligible or not.

Talk to a recruiter. I will not comment on whether they can or not as each case is different. Have people with disability ratings rejoined the military? Yes. There are several stories of here on RP of just that happening. Each one is different but the thing is, you have to write the VA to give up your disability and then you have to pass MEPS. And even then you have to have a waiver or a few depending on the reasons for the disability in the first place. And then there is the fact that you might not even get that disability rating back because look at you, you are healthy enough to serve again... that is not disability.

Think long and hard before you embark on such a course.

You dont "give up" you disability, you request them to suspend payment one you enter AD, and reinstate it when you separate. You do not have to file a claim at any point, a phone call to the call center should do the the trick, ut do follow it up with a written request that can be faxed in as an extra precaustion. I believe I saw a way to also notify them of your return to AD on eBenefits. Not positive though on that.

MSG Robert Conrad - recommend contacting the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) National Call Center at [login to see] . Ask for 'Agent' and make a selection from the available options for disability compensation.
