Again, I've learned from experience that some bases overseas may have facilities and/or services available but limit the members based on how many people they can support with those services. Germany has a ton of facilities and services but they also have a ton of personnel who are using them as well. Just because they have the facilities and/or services doesn't mean you'll have access to them. I was told that services were available here at Langley when I arrived but it took 3 years to access those services.

I've actualy had the same thing happen to me. My kicker is the AF was looking to send me to Germany on an unaccompanied long tour (2 yrs) based on my selection for the assignment as a "most eligible" non-vol and the family being denied based on non-availablity of services. I fought hard not to go on a 2 yr unaccompanied and was given a 1 yr to Korea so I can "serve my share of overseas tours" (I've served 2 assignments overseas not including deployments). As I'm sure you don't want to go there are far worse alternatives out there. You have to look at all your options and try to put you and your family in the best position for success. I've learned from experience that some bases overseas may have services available but limit the members based on how many people they can support with those services. I understand the hardships of going anywhere without your family.

I was on assignment instructions to Fort Richardson as there was a shortage of Airborne 25U NCO's, my command sponsorship was denied, I received a memorandum stating that if i didn't get the assignment instructions deleted, I would be serving a 3 year tour there unaccompanied. Eventually I did in fact get it deleted (albeit 2 months after I should have reported). I received new Assignment Instructions to Fort Bragg, following my deployment. As my family was in the process of seeking specific treatment in Kentucky, it wasn't in their best interest and I declined the assignment ( not without its consequences). Unfortunately, with my Unit being deactivated, I'm leaving anyhow. At least I got an ALC phase II date out of it.

Not wanting to go isn't a good enough reason not to go. What is it that you are asking? Was the EFMP issue in Germany related to a Family member? If so, going to Korea isn't the same thing, you can go without your Family.

Im already in Korea. Well the Army is just looking after my family. My tour will be for a year unaccompanied but as soon as I get back I will make sure my daughter will get more services she needs
