During WWII, the British had famed engineer MG Percy Hobart. Hobart's "funnies" were designed to be used against enemy defenses and terrain that was considered impossible to command. Leave it to an engineer to throw the BS flag and come up with a solution. What were some other Sapper victories across the world's battlefields?

SFC Paul Smith comes to mind. SFC Smith won the Medal of Honor for his actions at Bagdad International Airport in 2003. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Ray_Smith

Combat Engineers were critical in the stopping of Kampfgruppe Peiper. Properly placed mines and explosives delayed and harassed the force enough to allow for more fire power to engage it. . An element of the 291st blew the bridge at Habiemont in front of him (Peiper) this playing a major roll in stopping his 5 day spree.

I did a Battle Staff Ride to the Bulge and had to report on the engineers (I'm also 12B). during the battle many combat engineers were pull off their engineer duty and made infantry, in which they did an outstanding job, but it was later determined a squad of combat engineers were more deadly when acting as 12Bs that a whole platoon of engineers acting as infantry. 12Bs were worth their weight in gold when doing their assigned job.

I traveled the route. The BSR I was on had BG Zabecki (Ret) as our leader. He is a great historian and knows his stuff real well.
