Twice this month I received texts from someone claiming to be a US Army recruiter, so I'm wondering if this is a common practice or some type of potential scam (I've gotten a lot of questionable texts since uploading my résumé to careerbuilder).

I send messages all the time. If your using careerbuilder you may have “Opted in”

Yes, we can. I personally don’t send them but it is seen as a form of recruiting with school lists and things of that nature. It could be a generic one send out in masses. There is also a device that allows us to send out mass texts to those in our area just because. It’s all just a method of recruiting.

Yes they can. Recruiters use those job sites to find potential applicant's and also post about certain jobs. Particularly the National Guard.
