I got out as an E-5 in 2013 with 5 years on AD (plus 3 years IRR). RCP for E-4 is 8 years. How does this affect my options to get back in? Let's suppose I want an MOS that has a 6 year standard enlistment contract. Could I take such a contract? Or would I only be able to take a 3 year contract based on my AFS and RCP?

Sometimes you are allowed to keep your rank. If they place you in your current rank you'll have one year to attend BLC. They could reduce you and let you enlist 6 years with an exception for RCP. It's all what the Army needs. MEPS can arrange all kind of exceptions based on the needs of the Army.

SGT Jamarl Jones only the MOS propenent can waive things like that. You can CLEP it though. You just need a C

SGT Jamarl Jones there are usually seats for 68V, even on the Reclass side, and it's almost always under strength for E5

SFC (Join to see) - Interesting. So, then I guess the issue would be getting them to let me keep my E-5 (even though I have off AD for 5 years and don't have BLC).

SGT Jamarl Jones it all comes down to the needs of the Army. No way to game it before you get in there.

I recommend you talk with your recruiter to request a waiver to maintain your E5. Only your active duty time counts towards RCP. Talk to your recruiter able the amount of time you can enlist. Also, you may have to come back in at your previous MOS at the needs of the Army. This saves the Army money if they don’t have to re-train you. Talk to your recruiter so you can get the best answer for your situation. Good luck to you....

MAJ Javier Rivera - From what I have been told, I have to to go MEPS to find out anything further. The local recruiters have never worked with a PS before, so they aren't able to provide a whole lot of info.

SGT Jamarl Jones That’s correct. Once at the MEPS a Guidance Counselor - a Recruiter with additional school- has the access to the system and that along with your records, will be able to give you better information.
