A.R. 600-8-22 states:
2-23.4) No more than one MOVSM will be awarded to any Service member. For subsequent periods of community service justifying award of the medal, a bronze service star will be worn on the suspension and service ribbon of the medal.

If you earn a bronze service star on your ribbon, does that mean your SRB still says you only have been awarded it once? I previously thought that a bronze star on it meant it was awarded twice. A regular MOVSM is worth 10; is a MOVSM with a bronze star still 10 or is it 20?

You have earned 2 MOVSM, so, 2 X 10 = 20
2 MOVSM = MOVSM with bronze star = MOVSM w/1BS.
Similarly, 2 ARCOM = ARCOM with bronze oak leaf cluster = ARCOM w/1BOLC.

Yes, and recent changes 600-8-22 states no longer having restrictions to volunteer criteria i.e. 36 months 500 hours. First o5 will seem if it meets qualified continual criteria. Usually I'm seeing bn give it at 150+ hours.
2ndly movsm is no longer da 638 it is MFR format. Your local ACS can help with write ups.

As long as hours are in vmis you are good to go. And hours from post to post can still show in there just print it out. And keep in your I love me book.

Sorry, meant to go to the next line and posted instead!
What they mean is that you may only have one medal, all later are stars, like OLC. They represent further awards, but you only have one medal.

2LT (Join to see) - So how would that work for promotion points? Is each star worth an additional 10, since it's effectively just another iteration of the same award?

SGT (Join to see) it used to work that they would each be worth points, but to be honest it’s been a long time since I worried about points too close, let me take a look before I give a hard answer, I hate giving out wrong poo.
