Enlisting as 68W with NREMT certification - possible rank?

I've seen multiple answers stating anything from PVT to SPC - I have 9 hours of college credit from my original EMT school and I've submitted that as well as my NREMT certification to my recruiters. I've been told I'll likely go in as E-2 by my recruiter and I sign my contract next week when I head to MEPS for my physical/processing. Any tips on what to look for in the contract or where I may be at in terms of rank? It doesn't particularly matter to me - a boot's a boot's a boot, and that's what I'll be. Just trying to get this sorted so I don't get screwed.

PFC, the only thing the NREMT will get you is a jump through to the Whiskey training. You will bypass the classroom.

SPC Brionna V. if you ever need any advice let me know. I've been a 68W for 12 years. Besides as an NCO it's my job to mentor. God speed and good luck!

You will only come in with the rank they give you at MEPS. I came in as a PFC because of JRROTC in high school. The only thing NREMT will get you is, or was, 6 weeks off AIT. The first 6 weeks was EMT B school and of you are certified theybwont make you go through it again. The rest of AIT is required no matter how much experience you have. They want to teach you they ways of an Army medic.

Thank you very much. I was anticipating anywhere from 4-8 weeks off AIT - I'm fine with doing all of it if they ask for it, the worst it'll do is refresh my memory. I appreciate the clarification.

That's not true. I'm currently in AIT here and all the guys with NREMT certs came in as E-4s. However you're correct about needing to learn the Army medicine. We have one guy in my class who's a flight paramedic and a woman who was a nurse. Still had to learn Army medicine though

You should be a SPC. I'm currently at AIT for 68w at Fort Sam Houston. All the people who came in with an NREMT certification came in as "accelerants". Since the first 8ish weeks of AIT is just the EMT phase, they were able to skip that and just go straight to "whiskey phase" where you learn all your Army medicine. If your recruiter is telling you that you'll only be an E-2 he's either misinformed or lazy. You should be coming in as an E-4.

The programs that's Soldier's enlist under are always changing. PV2 may be the rank authorized for already meeting the NREMT requirement right now. That MOS may not fall into a program such as Army Civilian Aquirred Skills Program (ACASP) that could authorize a higher rank. Often these changes come by way of USAREC messages that aren't widely released across the force, so generally your recruiter will have the most up to date information. It doesn't hurt to ask questions, but be careful accepting any enlistment guidance (mine included) on RP as fact. I was a recruiter for 3.5 years. If I had to bet, I would say there was a USAREC message sent out changing something nearly every other day. Good luck. BTW, 68W is the best MOS in the Army, although I might have a small bias.

I came in with NREMT, 19 college credits, 21 months experience on a fire dept.... E2... you only get more rank for 60 credits or enlisting your friends.

PV2 (Join to see) not true, four of us had nremt and two of us had tons of experience... We were all e2, got e3 at arrival at first duty station

PV2 (Join to see) maybe it changed then. 601-280 is the most changed regulation in the army to accommodate supply and demand
