ok so my conditional release now has a very high chance of getting approved, my readiness nco says expect to drill atleast 2/3 more times so im now thinking of which mos i want to change to since Air Defense isnt a needs to the army, im leaning towards infantry because of business rules and just wanted to ask all my former, or current grunts out there..what was your favorite assignment while serving ? ive always heard 82nd or 173rd but outside of airborne nobody from any other type of unit has given feedback

10th Mountain, 101st, 25th ID. Pretty much any light unit I've been around are well liked by their members. Its physically more demanding but you get to do your actual job as an infantryman more frequently versus worrying about the up keep on a Stryker or Bradley.

Love the 101ST and the 10TH are some of the toughest guys in the Army, but after age 30, having a vehicle, protection and firepower available in the new Stryker units starts looking a lot better.

I have never been part of 10th Mountain but I have a lot of respect for the units... Soldiers from there tend to be good in the field and garrison.. and they have great history

Served in the 4th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War I won’t say it was my best experience but will say it was to say the most “memorable “ probably the best was being selected as an instructor at Ft.Polk after my tour,Infantry was all I knew back then and I expect it hasn’t changed much ,you walk a lot ,carry around a lot of heavy junk, and if the Country needs someone to get shot at ,Bingo you’re it!

I wasn't with the infantry, but had a few good friends that were. A different breed of people.
