My current boyfriend who is in the Army as an E-5 Sergeant is possibly deploying to Djibouti Africa very soon. I am just wondering how much danger he will be in while over there? I don't want nothing to happen to him because I love him so much. If anyone could give me any insights on that location Please let me know. Thank You Very Much! God Bless!

This may be blunt but you need to know.
He is in the Army, he will deploy to dangerous areas. It's the job. It's best to come to terms with it early. Questions like this will do nothing but worry you even more. I'm not saying to turn a blind eye to possible danger, but he needs you to be strong at home and not worry much about the location he's in. TRUST HIM AND HIS TRAINING. Soldiers deploy to worse areas and come out fine, others never deploy and get major injuries in the States. I myself have 5 deployments to combat zones, and not one purple heart (no, I was not a fobbit).
Your job as a GF is to trust him, handle everything back home, and support him with emails/phone calls. Worrying everyday about him being in a "dangerous area" will only drive you up the wall with stress.

One more thing, he has a job to concentrate on, and him worrying about how you are at home in dealing with this is a distraction from his job. You need to be supportive so he isn't distracted, the more distracted, the more dangerous.

Thank you for your response. I understand where you are coming from. He has been deployed before and I pray for all of our Military members no matter where they are. God Bless!

There are worse places to be deployed that for sure -- The biggest downside I found in DJ was the smell...so how bad can it be?

There was a Brigade of French Foreign Legion there at one time, not sure about today. They tend to keep the crazies in line, mainly because they can do crazy better.

Angela Stanley I agree with CW2 (Join to see). Being a Sergeant has no bearing on danger level. A soldier that is making the Army a career, will probably deploy to some areas where there is more danger than other locations.
Mission. The Army Mission – our purpose – remains constant: To deploy, fight and win our nation's wars by providing ready, prompt and sustained land dominance by Army forces across the full spectrum of conflict as part of the joint force.
