Are military movies hard to watch because they are poorly executed?

Everytime I watch one, my wife tells me to shut up because I always point out what's wrong

My husband snarls when they get the weapons wrong, or make them do something he knows they can't do. I growl when they get other areas wrong, generally in my AFSC's.

I definitely feel this way. When I was just getting into the military, I would watch every military movie I could find, often multiple times. Now a long time later, I basically don't watch a single one, mostly for the reasons you described.
Most movies are so painfully unrealistic that it just frustrates me to watch. The rare ones that are realistic, hit a little too close to home.
My civilian friends don't understand why I don't get excited about these movies.

I agree, I too watched a lot of War movies but I don't now partially because PCI ten too pick the movie apart and the other is PTSD.

I find it frustrating when watching movies that portray the Military as "intentionally stupid", or doing things that are obviously a direct violations of the UCMJ. My husband was a Weapons Instructor, both Air Force and Army, as well as Military Police, and when the movies portray something so basically wrong, he tries to shrug it off as Hollywood, but he also finds it annoying or frustrating. Especially when they get the weapons wrong. My pet peeve is the way they put us in a box, so we appear to be mindless drones with no brains. The sad part is, there are civilians out there, who believe we really are that way and the movies only enhance that.

I've had more than my share of laughs at atomic hand grenades, men carrying mini-guns spewing seemingly endless supplies of ammunition, etc etc etc. However, I am far more offended by the frequent portrayal of American servicemen and women as miscreant goons tyrannizing civilian populations (most likely because some leftist film maker has an unrealistic opinion they want to propagandize).
I suppose I could forgive almost any and all of this if they would simply teach the actors how to salute properly...

How about the fact that they have them solute while on the battle field....umm even my daddy told me you aren't supposed to do that because the focus is taken away from the enemy which may or may not be attacking at any moment.....I get sick of some of the civil war movies portraying one side clean cut and the other in virtual rags...also can someone tell them they are putting the patches on wrong AND to get more believable boots? If I see one more of the movies showing the older events and wars with men in timberlines ill scream!!!!! I used to help my daddy take his off at night (my brother and I took turns) so I know what they are supposed to look like!
