Aspiring to attend PSYOP selection. If selected, and I had orders for deployment at my current unit, would that make me attend the PSYOPQC after my deployment? Currently do not have orders but trying to figure out if that would be the case. Personally not trying to get out of the deployment by any means, would love to go if I was not selected. However, if I am, then would prefer to attend course immediately.

When I ran the PSYOP recruiting process the way it worked was very simple: Soldiers would attend The PSYOP selection and if selected, they would deploy and PCS to the Q Course after a minimum of 90 after returning. Remember, selection is on a TDY status and the last thing we wanted to do was deprive unit’s before a deployment. DA would not allow it!!!!!

The selection memo from any of the branches is good for 2 years. So you very well could attend and be selected, return to your unit, deploy, then after reintegration be PCSed.

So I'm tracking you were specifically referring to soldiers who were selected but came on deployment orders with current unit. Are you saying the general rule of thumb is that soldiers will then go on deployment, then attend Q course within 90 days of returning from the deployment?

Yeap! Soldiers TDY and return to selection, deploy with their units, and after a minimum of 90 days after re-deployment (redeployment activities), PCS to their Q Course.

If your unit has been selected for deployment/has deployment orders, then you are locked into that deployment by DA, so aspire all you want- do something about it when you return.
