Who is responsible for starting the pay roll process for reservist on tdy or adt orders? Everytime it seems like I miss paychecks due to payroll trying to figure this process out. Any advice to keep from these problems from happening in the future?

If you are on orders for more than 28 days in a row Finance pays you, what post are you assigned to. If you are on orders for less than 28 days, the UA of your unit pays you. I assume since you are TDY it is finance. Usually your unit only cuts orders for schools or home station.

If they cut them for the entire 8 weeks and did not break them up into 2 or more separate orders, I believe you will have to go to finance at Sam Houston and submit a copy of your orders. I know some UA's will cut the orders in shorter periods so they can handle the pay on their side. Unless they have changed things, 28 days or more finance, Under 8 days UA but he can't pay you until your return and submit the orders, 8 days to 27 days he can submit your pay early once he has confirmed you are on site and training and you will have your money in the bank on the last day. I know I did 37 days at Ft. Lee for training and they cut mine into 18 day orders and 19 day orders so I would not have to wait on finance plus get my pay regular. best of luck

Note I stand corrected, I looked it up, if the orders are 8 days to 29 days(not 28) the UA submits, if they cut your orders for 30 days or more and is on an active duty post you must submit the orders to the post finance if they do not have a finance your UA must submit the orders to PAC for payment. The UA cannot submit your pay thru RLAS for any orders 30 days or more.

Thank you for all your responses. I have been informed that it is more than likely going to be 15 Feb. before I get paid. Any suggestions or recommendations to make this happen sooner? Or am I stuck waiting? I started my order 09 Jan.

If the orders are for 14 or more days, the ARA should submit the pay the day you leave. That way you get paid at the end of the order. If its longer than that you will get paid every 2 weeks.

1-7 day orders are paid at the end of the order.
8-29 day orders are submitted on the first day.
30+ day orders are submitted to finance.
