Hoping someone can clarify this for me. I've been reading AR 614-30 and AR 635-200 and the JTR and DoDti regulations but they always seem to reference one-another without a direct answer. (that I didn't see)

This is my question;

I was PCS'ed to Alaska in 2013 and during my time I re-enlisted while I was OCONUS and ended up staying OCONUS for the second re-enlistment. Later on an opportunity presented itself and I submitted a Chapter 16-7 (Reduction in force packet) to leave the Active Army to go to work and join the national guard with about only 4 months left on my second enlistment in the Active Army. Does the approval of the 16-7 award me a completion of tour and authorize a second OSR? I was awarded another DROS date during all of this, but never received orders to stay. And yet again, this was a re-enlistment, not an extension.

All in all, I am just wondering if my reduction of force separation awards a second completion of tour, since I was awarded the initial already.

Over seas service ribbon is awarded for a specific amount of time, if you do not meet that time no ribbon, it does not matter when your "tour ends". The wording of the award is stupid.

https://www.hrc.army.mil/content/Overseas%20Service%20Ribbon%20OSR

according to table 3-2 of AR 614-30 these are the "exemptions"
Award of tour credit and adjustment of date eligible for return from overseas/date returned from overseas

1.
To within 60 days of completion of the prescribed tour (see table 2

1, note 3) by your statement you were 4 months short, so this applies.

Less than the normal prescribed overseas tour, curtailment is for the convenience of the Government, and through no request from or fault of the Soldier.

Your transfer was an individual request so this applies.

You do not get the award, it sucks but it happens, i missed a second award of an OSR in the navy by three days, because i sold leave back to the navy.
