I have checked both pages on the goarmy website, and the only difference is that a 35W goes to DLI before AIT. Will the 35W MOS replace 35M? What is the actual difference between the two?

35W isn’t an actual job. It’s an entry MOS. A soldier enters as a 35W. Goes to DLI after BCT. If the soldier successfully completes the language course, he/she will go on to the 35P AIT at Goodfellow AFB.
If the soldier doesn’t successfully complete the course (and remains in good standing), he/she will go on to the 35N AIT at Goodfellow AFB.
They are unrelated to 35M; they are separate jobs. Mike being language dependent is a relatively new thing. You’ll all be in class together, though. Different branches, Officer, enlisted, reclass, IET. It’s an interesting environment.
Best of luck. DLI is a beast.

From what’s been explained to me is that it looks like M is being phased out and will only be 35W and entirely language dependent for everyone as 35M is again language dependent but you do not need to hold a language to hold the MOS. SGT (Join to see)

35W is a relatively new concept, but it is a 35M recruit. It's similar to the 18X option. If a 35W is unable to meet the requirements for classification as a 35M (language, clearance etc.) then he/she will be reclassified to another MOS. If a Soldier enlists as a 35W, he/she must successfully obtain his/her language, a TS//SCI clearance and pass the 35M basic course at FH, AZ. Hope this helps.

SSG Gabriel Miller - And once all that has been completed, they will be awarded the 35M MOS and will PCS to the generating force. Since Soldiers are receiving government funded language training, their first assignment will be in a unit authorized for their language. Example: If the 35M successfully passes the KP (Korean) course at DLI, he/she should expect an assignment in INDOPACOM. For obvious reasons, I won't name specific units.

35M was always a language dependent MOS, they’ve just been waiving the requirement for several years because the army was so short-handed in that MOS.
