I was a 12b and decided to reclassify to 68w. In order to reclass I had to re-enlist because of the time I had remaining in my contract. Soon after re-enlisting I received a welcome letter from Alaska as a 12B but I will be a 68w. My question is after I finish my reclassification will my orders get canceled or will I be able to request to get my duty station changed?

You may want to reconsider trying to get out of Alaska if you enjoy anything to do with the outdoors. Of you hunt or fish, or even if you don't, you may kick yourself in the butt.

A welcome letter isn't orders. They're just not tracking that you will be a 68W, meaning you're on assignment to Alaska as a 68W. There's a couple rules to reclass:
1. You can't be on assignment when you Reclass. That means you don't have orders as a 12B.
2. You will attend AIT in a TDY enroute status, meaning when you head to AIT you are already on assignment.
3. You will receive your training follow on assignment 90 days prior to training start.

A caveat to point 2, that is not always the case, you can be TDY and return for reclass. Happened to me, and was almost a year before I saw orders as a 25B.

SGT James LeFebvre you cannot be TDY and return for an MOS Reclass unless the unit funds the training. You can be TDY Enroute with return to home station authorized to clear when you have dependents. It's a frequently confused term.

I had something like this happen to me. One thing you can do is go to your S1 and provide your Welcome Letter and your Re-Enlistment Contract for 68W. They may be able to submit a cancellation of orders. This is what happened to me when I re-enlisted to go from 12B to 68W (91B back then)
