Dependents must be listed in DEERS to be eligible to receive TRICARE benefits.
TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS)
The TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS) program is a premium based health insurance plan that is available worldwide. It is available for qualified members of the Selected Reserve and their families. TRICARE Reserve Select, like other TRICARE programs requires that you pay a monthly premium to receive insurance coverage.
TRS only covers health and vision benefits, not dental or pharmacy benefits. TRS also does not cover reservists who are on active duty orders (or their families), or retirees, there are separate programs for those personnel.

While on active duty dental is free and so is “tricked medical”. When your active orders are over you can enroll for both on the tricare website. Also it may be best to call the 800 number to be safe. But I believe that’s how it works.

Negative. You're not in the Army until you're in the Army. If you have dental issues your reception will handle it so it won't present a problem in Basic and AIT. Or is this concerning a dependent?
