I had recently gotten married and My wife isn’t moving here until March timeframe, I’m trying to start my BAH but I cannot start it until I clear the barracks and in order to do so I have to be moved into housing. Will I be retro paid my BAH from the time I get married until the day I actually start receiving my BAH?

If you are authorized BAH you will get back pay. Thank you for your service.

Thus is true, unless you have a completely different situation. So it's safe to say, it depends on the situation.
For example: I put in a request for a Secretarial BAH Waiver, due to PCSing to a unit that was deploying in 2 months. I left my family in Guam and went on the deployment. The request was denied due to a bunch of miscommunication and people not knowing the current regs stating that I do not meet the requirements to be eligible for a BAH waiver. I did my own research and and found that I was in fact eligible.
Long story short, my request was approved 8 months into the deployment and Back Pay was not authorized...... why? Apparently there's a policy that states the waiver will begin the date the request was submitted.... SMDH.

For me in 2014 I got back pay from the date of marriage. My wife was also S1 so that helped. Also, I cleared the barracks asap and stayed with a friend for a bit.

SPC (Join to see) If your going for on post housing then they should be able to provide a date. PM if you have more questions, I can ask my wife tomorrow.

The only date the should be concerned with is the date of marriage and the date you cleared/moved out of the barracks. Your back pay date will be the date you moved out of the barracks. Get with the person you cleared from the barracks and have that give you a memo with the date you cleared the barracks. I hope this helps, good luck to you... SPC (Join to see)

Exactly, the move-in date doesn’t matter only the date of marriage and/or date he moved out of the barracksSFC Uriah Jones
