I see lots of people wear leather belts with their unit’s buckle, so why not martial arts belts?

SPC Erich Guenther you're obviously missing the point. Stetsons and spurs come out of a long standing military tradition. In no way do myriad martial art belts benefit from the same, at least not in America. Additionally, though no regulation governs the stetson or spurs, there are common standards for their wear and award. Yet again, there is no such standard in the military for the belts. You can whine as much as you like--or attempt and fail to poke fun--but you're still as retarded as a football bat.

Why not state-issued awards on the ASU? Why not Boy Scout merit badges? Why not an actual martial arts belt from a Gi?

The Army should keep quirky uniform items to a minimum. Not start operating on the, ‘well they get to, so I want to’ principle.

Because none of those things you stated are actual military awards. Why a combat action badge? Why am expert solider badge? Why a Ranger tab?

There are plenty of State-level military awards that are issued, yet not authorized for wear by 670-1. However, while I originally explained my reasoning, allow me to restate. “ The Army should keep quirky uniform items to a minimum. Not start operating on the, ‘well they get to, so I want to’ principle.”

Not everything needs to worn on Army uniforms. Let alone some flair from a program from another service.

IMO they should be allowed; it is a legitimate “school” noted on your DD214 and boy is that belt definitely earned if you’ve ever been through the several weeks worth of instruction.
