I am filling out my Air Force application and I saw they are using the SF 86 form. When I applied for my Top Secret Clearance, I used this same form. In that form I stated I received an Article 15. In 2013 I tested positive for a prescription drug that was not prescribed to me and I received an Article 15. I was retained and continued on with my career. Now that I am trying to switch to the Air Force, you think it will disqualify me? It happen 6 years ago when I was a dumb private. I know I made a choice and I would have to live with that but I’m not that same dumb private anymore. Curious to know everyone’s thoughts.

Article 15 is not punitive in nature. If you were retained then your dd 214 should give you a good re code and characterization of service.

I'd recommend you talk to a USAF Recruiter. They will best be able to advise on your eligibility to change branches. As far as your TS is concerned. That could be a deal breaker but again talk to the USAF folks.

If you look at this soldiers profile, my guess is that his job already requires a TS clearance, which is why he mentioned the form. I do agree that he needs to talk to the USAF Recruiter, the Air Force tends to be very anal about stuff the Army overlooks.
