What does the playing of TAPS mean to you? The playing of TAPS has always been something I loved hearing...
I have attached a non-traditional version, hope you like it. I think about the millions that have stood at attention, and the millions that have dies defending the colors.

At the age of 12 I watched as my grandfather, a Korean War Veteran USMC, was laid to rest with full military honors in Scranton, PA. TAPS, with echo bugler, was sounded and to this day I can still hear the notes, feel the 21 gun salute in my chest, and see the dress blues on the Funeral Detail. I credit that ceremony with the ignition of my desire to join the uniformed ranks. I joined the Marines just 6 years later and it was the best decision of my life.

Is it possible this is the most stirring piece of music you have ever heard?

SFC Boots Attaway
Counting just funerals I have heard that piece of music 375 times while I was in the Old Guard with the Presidential Firing Party Plt. I do not know how many funerals CW5 (Join to see) did as he was there less than 18 months.

SFC Boots Attaway, I was there only about 15 months, but I did a lot of funerals, also with the Honor Guard Company Firing Platoon. I'm sure it was no where near 375; I'd guess somewhere between 50 and 100 (or so).

If I am around the installation at 2300 Hours I definitely Honor the fallen by standing at attention.
I get really emotional when it plays SSG(P) (Join to see)
