Typically infantry will get attached as well as other supporting mos but you dont want to be attache to SF unless you're SF. I've been assigned as their force protection and none of it is cool or high speed. Their are many places Scouts can be assigned, depending whether you're heavy, light or airborne. Pretty much all of the main bases would be available unless you're airborne, just like any other MOS would limit your options but is definitely worth it. My experience as a scout, I've been to Grafenwohr Germany in 1-91 CAV (ABN) 173rd IBCT (ABN), 1 BCT 82nd ABN in 3-73 CAV currently a Healthcare Recruiter (yes as a scout). So you could really end up at any of the main duty stations. Hope that gives you some insight.

Thanks, Definitely did. 1 more question, I actually plan on going airborne, how much of a impact will that have. Will going Airborne be positive or negative as a Scout?

SGT (Join to see) To be an Airborne Trooper takes alot of courage but you've already done half the work by enlisting into the US Army. It develops your leadership capabilities and makes you more technical and tactical both as a paratrooper and as a scout. Yes I recommend going airborne and staying. It looks good on future centralized promotion boards as well. Once you've gained enough experience and jumps you'll be told to become a jumpmaster. Try the 82nd first you'll gain lots of experience there.

My whole time as a 19D was at Bragg. 1-73 CAV it was where I wanted to be and do. We were small sized units and were dismounted the majority of the time. Which I like. I don't have any knowledge of other units (armored or infantry). I can say that you have to be ready to spend a lot of time in the field and be ready to deploy at any moment.

1. Nearly all. 2. Yes but it is awfully competitive and a bit rare.

Any Mech/AR unit has the 19D,, google it. NO SF has 0 armor capabilities, and no AR assets. The closest would be some sort or joint OP where AR/Mech units might provide blocking actions.
