I served with HHB 479th FA BDE 1st Army Div West under the OCT/OWT program. Periods of service on Active Duty is Jan 2009 to Jan 2011. Since retiring and putting together my Shadow Box i came across Permanent Order 332-07 for the Army Superior Unit Award for date 01JUN08 - 30SEP11.

If you were assigned to the unit during any timeframe that the unit was awarded the Army Superior Unit Award then you're entitled to wear it as part of your permanent awards. You can make a correction to your records by submitting a request just like the old days it'll just take awhile. Meanwhile you can include it in your shadow box.

I found that the unit before my last unit had a second Award of the Army Superior Unit Award. Since I already earned one I jut added the Oak Leaf to my first one.

MSG Joseph Dutton that's all you need to wear it. Now if you want it added to your records you just have to provide a short MFR attach copies of your orders and the unit award order and it's all up to date once you get confirmation. If you request a ASUA ribbon from Philadelphia your guaranteed a response in the next couple of years. Its government work at its finest! It took almost four years after he was retired to get a LOM previously assigned LTC his earned retirement award. Heck it took me applying on behalf of my Dad to get his B 50 years later
