Do you feel marriage is easier between a military couple or a military/civilian couple?

Good afternoon, Rally Point Community.
I was wondering if having a spouse that's also serving is easier on a marriage because they can relate with what you're going through. Or, is having a civilian spouse easier because they help you mentally by not always "talking "shop" after work.

I'm not sure. What matters more is whether or not your spouse is wealthy, especially on a Cpl's pay. No one can afford to maintain a household on that. (I know. My VFW post is helping feed more than 3,500 families at Camp Pendleton) And always keep in mind, there is no nobler cause than to marry for money...

Both are difficult. Bottom line is if you and your SO are not the same rank there will be conflict. If you and your SO are not both serving, there will be conflict. That’s my opinion based off experience. I think the military certainly adds stress to any couple but it just depends on how they deal with it that makes them successful or not.

SGT Blackwell, very insightful comment. And what you said about rank is true. Especially if one if the spouses makes a move to go from enlisted to officer. I've seen it happen, unfortunately.
