Would I have to complete BCT again after being a security clearance hold?

I attended basic training for the Army last year. I graduated and was not able to ship to AIT because my security clearance had not came through yet. I was a hold over in BCT for 7 months and was chaptered. I would like to re-join but do not want to complete BCT again. Is there any way I'd be able to go straight to AIT?

The answer to your question is found in your DD214, take a look at it. In the DD214 it's stated what you are credited with. If it gives you credit for basic, well basic complete. However I am curious as to why you didn't get reclassified to an MOS that don't require the clearance? How come you did not receive a new date? What caused your clearance to stall? Go see a recruiter. I guess you really don't want to get back in, a person who is 100% committed, would not hesitate to do basic training again.

When I re-enlisted it was after a 16 year break... I did OSUT a second time at 34 with a smile on my face!(of course I never let the DS see me smile). I 100% agree that if the OP wanted to really serve they would more than willing to prove themselves again.

Spot on reply, MSG. Especially the part about not being slid into an MOS that doesn't require a clearance. If it was the ENTNAC that held him up that may explain it as there may have been something that precluded him serving in any capacity. If enough time has gone by or the issue has been resolved he may be G2G now.

Look at the bright side. Basic will seem easy the next time around since you'll know the routine.

That's very true! I can't wait to go through again! Head down, blend in and embrace the suck! I'm gonna do it right this time!

Out of curiousity, why wouldn’t they send you to AIT? Most people don’t have their clearances fully processed before the end of basic training,
